The idea in one minute
Think of a payment link as a checkout page for one thing. You set what it's for and the price once, then reuse and share that same link — by text, email, or a post.
Customers can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay, or Afterpay — all built in. Best practice: one link per product or service, so your money and reporting stay clean.
Free to start: Square has no monthly fee to open. You only pay the standard processing fee when a sale happens.

Do it — step by step
~4 min
On your computer
Square Dashboard- Sign in at your Square Dashboard.
- Open Payments → Payment links (on some accounts it's under Orders & payments).
- Click Create a link.
- Choose Sell an item (product/service), Collect a payment (a set amount), or Accept a donation.
- Pick the item or create a new one — give it a name and price, add a photo if you want.
- Optional: Custom fields, Tipping, or Redirect after checkout.
- Save, then Copy link — share it by text, email, or social.
~3 min
On your phone
Square app- Open the Square app → ≡ More → Payment links.
- Don't see it? ≡ More → Add-ons → Payment links → Add for free, then come back.
- Tap Create → Sell an item or Collect a payment.
- Enter the name and price.
- Save → Share.
Already have links set up in your account? Any links created for you are in the same place — Payments → Payment links (or ≡ More → Payment links in the app). Tap the one you want and hit Copy link to share it. That includes any existing offer link, like a set-price program checkout.
Good habits
- One link per offer. Keeps your sales easy to read.
- Reuse the link. The same link works for everyone.
- Name it clearly. It shows on the customer's checkout and receipt.
- Need a deposit or "money down"? A link only takes the full price — use a Square Invoice (see Custom Payment Plans).
